Peru is definitelly the best and the most amazing country I have visited. I have spent here almost half year, mostly in Lima, which is not very nice city, but their disorganize public/private transportation is experience what u need to take. Try Lomo Saltado and Ceviche, drink Cusceňa beer and Pisco Sour. Go to Larcomar and observe breath taking sunset above Pacific Ocean. Do Salkantay Trek, which is the most difficult and the most beautifull way to discover Machu Picchu. Go and Visit Aymars still living in traditional way on Urus Island on Titicaca Lake. Do sandboarding in Huacachina Desert off by Ica town. If You need beaches, sun, party and ocean go up north to Mancora Beach on boarder with Ecuador.
Guatemala is my favourite Central American country. It is still not so discovered compare to Costarica or Mexico but its beatifull. Active volcanos, black beaches, Mayan ruins, Antique Cities, everything you are looking for is here. Its great country for studying Spanish. For approx 130 USD You will get homestay family, 3 meals per day and 25 hours of Spanish with private teacher. If u are coming to Guatemala make sure You will visit old capital city Antigua, Mayan Ruins in Tikal, layback town of Rio Dulce, beautifull National Park Semuc Champey and Lake Atitlan surrounded by 7 volcanos. If u looking for adventure where safety is not first You need to come to Guatemala. Low Budget backpackers will love it here.
Costarica or Switzerland of Central America. Very very expensive country but definitelly worth every dollar. The happiest people on the Earth live here. Costarica is really small country but You will need months to discover it. More than 20% of the land is covered by National Parks. On Pacific coast go to Manuel Antionio National Park and observe animals around, dont forget to try grilled mahi mahi fish, delicious. Have a party on peninsula of Nicoya, Montezuma and Santa Teresa are really good spots. Visit town La Fortuna in Arenal National Park and do the longest zipline of Central America in Monteverede National Park. On caribbean coast go to Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo and visit Peter and his house on the tree. Only one in entire world.
One of the poorest Central American coutry between Honduras and Costarica. I havent seen that much but what I spent 4 days on Ometepe Island created by two volcanos, Concepcion and Madera. Amazing place when time has been stopped. There is a lot of things to do, do hike on one of volcano, or both 🙂 Madera is very hard, Concepcion is hell, take rest at Ojo de Agua, natural pool and treat yourself with COCO LOCO drink, which is coconut water, pineapple and Flor de Cana, traditonal rum of Nicaragua. Only 4 USD for a liter, friendly country for lowbudget travellers.
Mexico is just huge country and I purchased very cheap ticket from Germany to Cancun so only Yucatan I have done. Dont spend too much time in Cancun, its very fancy and crowded place. Head south to Tulum with beautifull Mayan Ruins on shore. Hippies City with amazing atmosphere. Visit at least three Cenotes, which are deep holes / caves in the earth with pure fresh water. Food is just amazing here. You really dont need to eat in expensive restaurant. There is street food everywhere with original mexican taxos, burritos, quesadilla and of course, Corona and Tequilla. Visit Mayan ruins Coba, not so expensive and not so crowded as Chicen Itza.
